Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and sinister influences growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of the third episode show why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the team knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his debts and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the party enter locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
