The speculation around The Game Awards reached a fever pitch, especially after host Geoff Keighley shared a puzzling photo of a desert monolith. The secret is finally answered. Larian Studios is working on a fresh Divinity game.
Announced as Divinity, the game was showcased with a bold trailer packed with intense imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to scenes of revelry and the literal unleashing of hell.
A Different Direction
Anyone anticipating Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. Larian warned that a third Original Sin game to its critically acclaimed RPGs is not currently in development.
However, the developer described this new Divinity as a continuation of the core franchise. This phrasing suggests that the team might be building a faster-paced experience instead of another tactical title. At this moment, it remains theory, as only a teaser video is available.
The Legacy of Divinity
The Divinity series is universally respected and arguably it sparked the contemporary revival of complex computer role-playing games. These games are known for rich lore, branching plots, and flexible progression—qualities that recently reached new heights in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its setting is classic fantasy, what makes Divinity apart is the unprecedented level of trust given to the player.
In contrast to modern RPGs have pared back options, Divinity is full of niche playthroughs you can achieve by choosing a particular class or origin with a specific history of choices.
The series is also wonderfully open-ended, enabling players to experiment both in story and combat. Virtually all objectives can be completed in diverse methods, often in lateral fashion.

A New Chapter Begins
